To evaluate several types of brain disorder, when epilepsy is present, seizure activity will appear as rapid spiking waves on the E.E.G.
An E.E.G. is a test that detects abnormalities in your brain waves or in the electrical activity of brain. Voltage fluctuations measured by EEG bio-amplifier and electrodes allow the evaluation of brain activity.
An EEG might also be helpful for diagnosing or treating the following disorders:
- Brain tumor
- Brain damage from head injury
- Brain dysfunction that can have a variety of causes (encephalopathy)
- Inflammation of the brain (encephalitis)
- Stroke
- Sleep disorders
